Whistler - Blackcomb. Overview.
One of Canada’s foremost skiing resorts Whistler- Blackcomb really does cater for all sorts of people,when it is busy to bursting point in the winter months. The Whistler Region spreads to the North and South with 7000 acres of terrain suitable for skiing.
But it is Whistler Village which is the centre of the resort’s universe. It like a huge modern outdoor mall which was first built in the 1980s. Pleasant to look at as the buildings are not too high, and are made to blend in with mountain scenery. The buzz on the slopes and on the street is fantastic and makes Whistler- Blackcomb a friendly place to holiday.
Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains are where the skiing is. There are easily used pedestrian areas at the Upper Village at Blackcomb, in Whistler Village itself and the nearby fast catching up Creekside Resort. Being in the wake of the mild winds from the Pacific Ocean Whistler- Blackcomb snow is reliable as well. The high peaks don’t freeze your fingers, like some resorts inland. Since it was first discovered in the 1960s Whistler has fast become the most popular skiing resort in Canada. The skiing season being from mid November to late April in Blackcomb, and until June in Whistler. With high speed lifts, the sharpest vertical drops, dog sleddinging, tennis(!) fishing,& ice climbing, You can fly over a glacier or hop on a snowmobile.
