Jackson Hole. Overview.
Jackson Hole is set in the stunning and well known Teton Mountains. It is a star ski resort with two villages and is where high couture powder hounds, interpret the cowboy look, which doesn’t do much to impress the elks, moose and bisons on the valley floor, but apparently attracts attention on the powder slopes. You don’t have to be rich, famous or glam, but Jackson can be expensive. The Mangy Moose Saloon is good for a laugh with ski bum, tourist, rancher or stray film star at the bar. The rest of the year this resort is just as exciting when the winter sports are over. Then you can go hiking, rafting, and wandering around.
Downtown Jackson has a few historic buildings which are pure Wild West with wooden boardwalks. There is plenty of après ski with bars, nightlife, and shops 20 minutes away on the highly efficient shuttle service. Jackson is a good resort to learn to ski, because Snow King Mountain has beginner slopes. Find perfect pistes, and long cruising runs, from the top of Jackson’s mountain of 4,139 ft, which has the largest vertical rise in the USA some say. Who’s measuring? It’s big and ok if you are an Intermediate. There is plenty for the advanced skier and the snowboarder in this ski paradise, which is Jackson Hole.
